Can we have a flexible project schedule?

Is there such a thing as flexible project schedule? Or am I saying something that can be labeled as an oxymoron as a project schedule can never be flexible since this is against the definition of a project that states that all projects must have a clear start and end date?

If you think that a flexible project schedule exists, then please discuss and explain how to create such a project schedule.

Yes, you have the dimensions of cost, scope, quality, and time to play with and balance.  If time is less valued, you can make it flexible by picking your best date and then measuring your progress against it, understanding that if you go over or under, it is OK.
