Prince2 certification in Canada

I know that most of you will say that a PRINCE2 certification is irrelevant in Canada and not really recognized (and that might be true) and that I have to opt for the PMP instead, but I want to move to the UK in a year or so (where having a PRINCE2 certification is critical for project managers). Is there a place anywhere in Canada (preferably in Eastern Canada) where I can get this certification?

You might want to consider studying PRINCE2 online. There are a variety of options to choose from, but I would definitely recommend buying a course which acredited by the APM Group.

There is a lot of unaccredited materials out there, but they haven't gone through the rigorous quality standards which are required by the acredited materials.

Some accredited PRINCE2 providers offer exam vouchers as part of their course which means that you can take the PRINCE2 exam at a location in Canada. The exam location/date is set by the APM Group.

You can book your exam directly through the APM Group but this is often more expensive than buying the exam voucher accredited eLearning course.

I know that Knowledge Train offer such accredited training materials with exam vouchers.

PRINCE2 is progressively becoming more and more recognized in Canada. There are numerous organizations who now use it and it has growing recognition within the Federal Government  and in a number of the provinces. I've been delivering PRINCE2 training in Ottawa for the past few years for sOMOS consulting. It would be a useful qualification to have if coming to the UK as it is something looked for by many companies looking to recruit  PMs. As stated in the last post you can undergo training in Canada in a number of locations.  There are two qualifications - Foundation and Practitioner - If you are coming to the UK the Practitioner qualification is the standard you should achieve.

Well, as my name states, I'm a Canadian, and you're right, I am tempted to say that PRINCE2 is irrelevant in Canada, and you might be the only Canadian I know of wanting to become PRINCE2 certified, but since you're going to the UK, I think you've made the right choice.

In any case, PRINCE2 certification in Canada is handled by the US division of APMG international. So all you need to do is to email them at  examinations@apmg-us.com with the following information: Your name, your phone number, your address, as well as a brief message telling them which test you would like to take (they are responsible for several tests other than PRINCE2) and the date by which you would like to take the test.

The test is really cheap, it's as low as $50.

According to the APMG, you may have to take the test in a public library or a university.

I think if you really want to do the PRINCE2, then your best bet is to seek a training company that will provide the training for the exam first, and then will let you take the test at the end of the training. This is better and there's a huge chance that you will pass the exam in this case.

The test is not $50, that's the proctor fee in the United States.  The cost is $865 for the PRINCE2 Foundation + Practitioner exams plus proctor fees.  In Canada the proctor fee is "between 0 and $75"
