Please list all the advantages and disadvantages of shortening project schedules (in other words allocating less time for the project then it really needs).

The advantages of shortening project schedules is that you will satisfy your stakeholders on the short run. The main disadvantage is that you may lose your job because the project will definitely miss your adjusted schedule, or, at the very least, lose your credibility.

Other disadvantages include:

- Burnout of the team members due to overallocation
- Increased conflicts due to tense environments
- Lower production quality

"Crashing" the schedule is some times a necessary evil. HOWEVER - it will cost your more! there is an optimal delivery pace and volume that best minimizes cost against schedule. Crashing the project faster than that optimum will RAISE costs, not lower them!
