What is single point of responsibility by a project manager?

Considering the PM position within the structure and also the concept of responsibilities in terms of job function and interface.

Single point of responsibility means that the project manager is the communication funnel between the different stakeholders on the project.

All the project communication should flow through the project manager - if this is not the case, then we may end up with a failed project.

I guess that's why they say that project management is 90% communication!
