Project management certification for beginners

I'm a beginner in project management (in fact, I don't have any experience in PM) and I'm looking to get some education in project management and then I want to get a PM certification that is targeted for beginners in project management (so that I can at least enter the world of project management). Does such a thing exist? If yes, where do I get this certification from, and what kind of education do I need to pass this certification?

The best certification for your circumstances is the CAPM(r) or Certified Associate in Project Management.  If you are a student, PMI is currently rolling out a plan where you would become a student member and take the exam.

The exact qualifications to take this certification are available for download at: http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/~/media/PDF/Certifications/pdc_capmhandbook.ashx.

The summary is that you need a high school diploma, plus 1500 hours of experience -OR- 23 hours of PM education.
