The Project Contributor

Who is the project contributor? What is his role and his responsibilities? Who does he report to? Is he higher in the food chain than the project manager or lower?

How come very little is known about this project management role?

You know little about this role because there is no such role. Some people even think that the project contributor is a role defined in the PMBOK (and they need to know its role for the PMP), but this is wrong, this role doesn't exist in project management.

In the Microsoft world, MS Sharepoint mentions (or invents) a project contributor role, you can read more about it here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252467%28v=vs.80%29.aspx
