The gate review board is a group of (usually important) people in the company that will make critical decisions affecting the project (including cancellation) during gate review meetings (see
http://www.projectmanagementquestions.com/1618/gate-review-meeting
).
Members in a Gate Review Board (often referred to as GRB) include:
- The project sponsor
- The project manager
- Project stakeholders: Including company executives, the client/customer, vendors, etc...
Typically, the votes of all members in the GRB have the same weight. This means that the project manager's vote has the same weight as that of the project sponsor's (or any other executive).
Decisions made by the GRB are made either by consensus or by majority.
