The benefit of being part of PMI ?

Hello all.

In February I plan to take (try) PMP, and I want to know what is the benefit  of membership in PMI. I know about price discount for the PMP Exam, but I want to know what else will I have as a benefits for this price...100 and sometning dollars? If I pay for one year, when will my membership expire, if I pay February 2011? In the end of 2011 or in February 2011.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day ;-)

Hi,

You can find a list of all the benefits here: http://www.pmi.org/en/Membership/Membership-Benefits-of-Membership.aspx , essentially you would be getting some articles that otherwise you have to pay for, and a digital copy of the PMBOK. So what you're getting is, in my opinion, some junk mail from PMI. I think the real benefit though is hidden, is that you can claim some PDUs for being a member (reading their articles, for example).

To be honest I don't think it's worth it.

The membership is exactly for 1 year, so if you join in February 15 2010, your membership will be set to expire on February 15 2011 (give or take a few days), and you'll have to renew it manually.

Thanks man for the answer, any way I think I will go for it, because it will give me discount for the exam( the discount is bigger than the membership price), which is something at least for the first year.
